Wheel Choke (wedge sensors installed in RTG 31&32)
All RTGCs are fitted with wheel chokes (wedges) which are to be placed under the tyres when they are parked. During operations these wedges are removed and kept in a holding bracket on the wheel guard by the operator prior to operating the RTGCs. There had been instances when operators have missed to remove the choke resulting in RTGCs running over the wedges and causing damage to the wedges, tyres as well as the wheel guards.
In order to prevent this in future we have provided 4 sensors to detect the presence of wedges on the holding bracket. These sensors are linked with PLC and the PLC prevents gantry operation if sensors don’t detect the presence of wheel chokes in the holding bracket.
